MUST READ!!! DO NOT SIGN UP IF SOMEONE IS ALREADY ON THIS DAY. Friday is our and main Flower Day! If Fridays do not work for your schedule please take a look at our Monday options or reach out to us for any special requests. All volunteers must speak to a TFH Director to set up a time before delivering flowers. If someone is joining you, please have them "sign up" as well so we can thank them individually! We're required to have the info of all those delivering. What does delivering flowers with us entail? Nothing more than a random act of kindness to a stranger. You will pick up 2 bouquets of flowers from Alfa Flower and Wedding Shop on 70th and North and take them to the Froedtert Clinical Cancer Center on 8800 W Doyne Ave. When you pick up the flowers tell them you are there for Terese’s Flowers of Hope and they will bring up the pre-made arrangements. Parking for the cancer center will be located under the Cancer Center building. Once you enter parking you will continue straight to the “M” Elevators on the LL Floor. Once there you will meet a board member and proceed to the 3rd Floor Day Hospital. The ladies at the front desk will show you back to “Unit 4” of the Day Hospital where a nurse will help find recipients. Terese used to ask some of these same nurses for someone who, “Just needed to brighten up their day”. Once recipients are found by the medical staff you will simply go to their room and deliver the flowers. Volunteers generally share what TFH means to them and a little bit about what we do. Some interactions can be brief and others can turn into deep conversations. Just let the recipient lead and at all times respect their privacy. Don't be nervous about what you say, its the act that speaks so if you don't have many words for them that is totally fine. We are here as volunteers and need to respect patient privacy at all times. At no time can you ask for pictures of or with the recipient unless they ask you. Try not to shake hands or hug unless initiated by the patient then it is up to your discretion.
